« I have known and collaborated with Dounia since 2007 while she was working with Homarus out of New Brunswick and I was working with the Lobster Science Centre at UPEI. Since then, Dounia and I have both changed jobs numerous times but have continued to maintain a great collaborative relationship while working on different lobster projects. In the last few years Dounia and I have expanded our collaborations to other species as well as educational workshops. Dounia’s education and experience are two aspects of her excellent skill set. The aspect that is not highlighted enough is her networking skills.
Years working in the industry has given Dounia the opportunity to build trust with numerous fishing organizations, provincial governments, Department of Fisheries and Oceans and academics, which is key to making any project successful in the fishing industry.
